Gedaliah

Gedaliah gĕdəlīˈə [key], in the Bible. 1 Son of Jeremiah's protector Ahikam and guardian under Nebuchadnezzar of the Jews who were exempt from the Captivity. He was treacherously murdered, and the day of his death in the seventh month is still observed as a Jewish fast. 2 Musician. 3 Ancestor of Zephaniah. 4 Opponent of Jeremiah. 5 One who had a foreign wife.
