Ronaldo, Cristiano

Ronaldo, Cristiano (Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro), 1985–, Portuguese soccer player. A forward, he began professional play in 2001 with Sporting Portugal. With Manchester United from 2003, he helped them win the 2004 FA Cup, the 2008 UEFA Champions League, the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup, and three Premier League titles (2007–9). Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 games while with Man United. In 2009 Ronaldo went to Real Madrid, where he helped them win the FIFA Club World Cup in 2014 and became their all-time leading goal scorer. He has won the Ballon d'Or (2008), FIFA World Player of the Year (2008), Premier League Golden Boot (2008), and FIFA Ballon d'Or (2013–14).
