Pratas Island

Pratas Island prä´täs [key], also called Dongsha Island do͝ong´shä´ [key], in the South China Sea, controlled by Taiwan and administered as part of Kaohsiung. A national park, the island is part of an atoll and has guano deposits. It was occupied by the Japanese in 1907–9 and again in 1939–45 it is also claimed by China.
