Shillong

Shillong shĭlôngˈ [key], city (1991 pop. 223,366), capital of Meghalaya state, NE India. It is a summer resort c.5,000 ft (1,525 m) high in the Khasi Hills. There are two colleges. Christian Khasi and Garo tribes inhabit the surrounding districts.
