Dhanbad

Dhanbad dänˈbäd [key], city, Jharkand state, E central India. On the Damodar River and adjacent to dammed lakes, Dhanbad is a new city that serves as a district administrative center. It is India's leading producer of coal. The Indian School of Mines and Applied Geology is in the city, as well as the Central Fuel Research Institute.
