Krishnagar krĭsh´nəgər [key], city (1991 pop. 121,110), West Bengal state, E central India, on the Jalangi River. It is a district administrative center and a road and rail junction. The main products of the area are rice, jute, sugar, ceramics, and plywood sugarmilling is the largest industry. Krishnagar was the residence of the rajas of the former princely state of Nadia.
