Takasaki

Takasaki täkäsäˈkē [key], city (1990 pop. 236,461), Gumma prefecture, central Honshu, Japan. A transportation and industrial center, it produces computers and computer components and has textile factories, machine and metal plants, food-processing plants, and breweries. It is known chiefly for its statue (130 ft/40 m high) of Kannon, goddess of mercy.
