Pontypool

Pontypool pŏntēpo͞olˈ [key], Welsh Pontypŵl, town (1981 pop. 36,064), Torfaen, SE Wales. There are nylon, pharmaceutical, and automotive parts industries. Pontypool absorbed nearby Abersychan in 1935. To the north at Blaenavon the Big Pit preserves a former coal mine as a museum.
