Starkville, city (1990 pop. 18,458), seat of Oktibbeha co., E Miss.; inc. 1837. Cotton, corn, and soybeans are grown and livestock and dairy cattle are raised. Building materials, apparel, wood products, beverages, consumer goods, aircraft, electrical and electronic equipment, and machinery are manufactured. Nearby is Mississippi State Univ.
