Tifton

Tifton, city (1990 pop. 14,215), seat of Tift co., S central Ga.; inc. 1890. The city is an important truck-based distribution center. Manufactures include siding and roofing, yarns, agricultural chemicals and equipment, feeds, apparel, textiles, and aluminum products. There are tobacco, cotton, and vegetable crops, and meat is packed. The Georgia Agrirama (the state's living history center) is in Tifton.
