McLennan, Sir John Cunningham

McLennan, Sir John Cunningham, 1867–1935, Canadian physicist, grad. Univ. of Toronto (B.A., 1892; Ph.D., 1900). He taught at the Univ. of Toronto from 1892 to 1932, was professor of physics from 1907, and was dean of the school of graduate studies and research from 1930. He is known for his studies in the fields of radioactivity, low-temperature research, the superconductivity of metals, spectroscopy, and the treatment of cancer by radium. He was knighted in 1935.
