Having started out in television guest appearances and commercials, Pfeiffer proved she could hold her own opposite heavyweights like Jack Nicholson in The Witches of Eastwick (1987), Al Pacino in Scarface (1983), and Robert Redford in Up Close and Personal (1996). Her characters range from sexpots (Susie Diamond in The Fabulous Baker Boys, 1989, for which she did her own vocals) to the farmer's daughter (A Thousand Acres, 1996), to a werewolf (Wolf, 1994) and a Catwoman (Batman Returns, 1992). Other films include A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999), The Story of Us (1999) What Lies Beneath (2000), I Am Sam (2001), and White Oleander (2002). She is married to television and film producer David E. Kelley.
