Ice-T

(Tracy Marrow)
rap musician, actor
Born: 2/16/1958
Birthplace: Newark, New Jersey

Ice-T's rap album credits include Rhyme Pays (1987), The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say (1989), and O.G.—Original Gangster (1990). Also claiming a thriving acting career, he has appeared on the screen, large (Rappin' [1985], New Jack City [1991], CB4 [1994], and Johnnie Mnemonic [1995]), and small (New York Undercover [1995–96], Players [1997], and a continuing role on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit [2000– ]). Less well known, however, is that the former Los Angeles gang member and U.S. Army Ranger has formed two intervention programs in that city for at-risk children, Hands Across Watts and South Central Love. Also an author, The Ice Opinion, a book of opinions about politics, religion and education, was published in 1994.
