On this date in 1987, gale force gusts brought chilly arctic air into the Great Lakes region. Temperatures in some locations were 50 degrees cooler than the day before. Waves up to 15 feet high on Lake Michigan slammed into the southeast shoreline of Wisconsin causing more than $1 million in damage.
