Circus tent collapses due to wind gusts

On this date in 1987, heavy winds swept across large portions of the north-central United States. Wind gusts of 90 mph were recorded at Parkston, South Dakota, and high winds that accompanied a thunderstorm caused the collapse of a circus tent in Howard, Wisconsin, injuring 44 people.
