Arizona deluged with heavy rains

On this date in 1970, Arizona was deluged with some of the heaviest rains in its recorded history. Rivers in the central part of the state overflowed their banks in a matter of hours. The flood that resulted killed 23 people. The rains were the remnants of Pacific Tropical Storm Norma.
