3500 acres of trees damaged from sudden gusts

On this date in 1983, a downburst from a thunderstorm caused a large timber blowdown in the Kaibab National Forest near the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The sudden gusts completely leveled 200 acres and spread scattered damages across another 3300 acres of trees.
