HASKELL, Floyd Kirk, a Senator from Colorado; born in Morristown, Morris County, N.J., February 7, 1916; graduated, Harvard University 1937; graduated, Harvard Law School 1941; admitted to the New York and Colorado bars in 1946 and commenced practice in Denver, Colo.; served in the United States Army 1941-1945, attaining the rank of major; member, Colorado house of representatives 1965-1969; elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 1972 and served from January 3, 1973, to January 3, 1979; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1978; was a resident of Washington, D.C. until his death on August 25, 1998; interment in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
