Forrest GOODWIN, Congress, ME (1862-1913)
GOODWIN, Forrest, a Representative from Maine; born in Skowhegan, Somerset County, Maine, June 14, 1862; attended the common schools; was graduated from Skowhegan High School and Bloomfield Academy, and in 1887 from Colby College, Waterville, Maine, and Boston University Law School in 1890; was admitted to the bar in 1889 and commenced practice in Skowhegan, Maine, in 1891; member of the State house of representatives in 1889; clerk at the Speakerâs table under Speaker Reed in the Fifty-first Congress 1889-1891; member of the State senate 1903-1905 and served as president in 1905; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-third Congress and served from March 4, 1913, until his death in Portland, Maine, May 28, 1913; interment in South Side Cemetery, Skowhegan, Maine.
