LE MOYNE, John Valcoulon, a Representative from Illinois; born in Washington, Washington County, Pa., November 17, 1828; attended the common schools; was graduated from Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, Pa., in 1847; studied law; was admitted to the bar in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1852; moved to Chicago the same year and commenced practice; unsuccessful candidate of the Liberal Party for election in 1872 to the Forty-third Congress; successfully contested as a Democrat the election of Charles B. Farwell to the Forty-fourth Congress and served from May 6, 1876, to March 3, 1877; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1876 to the Forty-fifth Congress; resumed the practice of law in Chicago, Ill.; retired in 1887 and moved to Baltimore, Md., where he resided until his death on July 27, 1918; interment in Washington Cemetery, Washington, Pa.
