TRAPIER, Paul, a Delegate from South Carolina; born in Prince George’s Parish, Winyah, near Georgetown, S.C., in 1749; educated in England, where he attended Eton College 1763-1765; admitted pensioner, St. John’s College, Cambridge, March 20, 1766; admitted to the Middle Temple, London, February 17, 1767; member of the Provincial Congress and the committee of safety for Georgetown, S.C.; member of the South Carolina general assembly in 1776; justice of the peace in 1776; served in the Revolutionary War as captain of the Georgetown Artillery; elected to the Continental Congress in 1777, but did not attend; died at his home near Georgetown, S.C., on July 8, 1778; interment in the churchyard of Prince George, Winyah, Georgetown, S.C.
