RICHARDS, John, a Representative from New York; born in Wales April 13, 1765; immigrated to the United States and settled in Johnsburg, Warren County, N.Y.; received a limited schooling; member of the state assembly from January 29, 1811, to April 8, 1811; state surveyor 1810-1812; delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1821; elected as a Crawford Republican to the Eighteenth Congress (March 4, 1823-March 3, 1825); died at Lake George, Warren County, N.Y., April 18, 1850.
