LOUNSBERY, William, a Representative from New York; born at Stone Ridge, Ulster County, N.Y., December 25, 1831; was graduated from Rutgers College, New Brunswick, N.J., in 1851; attended the law department of the New York University in Albany, N.Y.; was admitted to the bar in 1853 and engaged in practice; during the Civil War was commissary of the Twentieth Regiment, New York Militia, with the rank of first lieutenant, during its three months’ service; member of the State assembly in 1868; mayor of Kingston 1878-1880; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1879-March 3, 1881); died in Kingston, N.Y., November 8, 1905; interment in the Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery.
