Brian Wilson

musician
Born: 6/20/1942
Birthplace: Hawthorne, California

Founding member of the Beach Boys and main songwriter, arranger, and producer for the group during its heyday; between 1962 and 1966 the group recorded 12 albums with Wilson at the helm, including Surfin' Safari (1962) and the critically acclaimed Pet Sounds (1966). A nervous breakdown and substance abuse problems plagued his career in the late 1960s and 1970s, but the 1980s and 1990s have witnessed a return to activity with the release of solo albums, including Brian Wilson (1988) and Imagination (1998), and a documentary with Wilson as its subject, Just Wasn't Made for These Times (1995).
