Denise Richards was a model-turned-actress when she got her breakthrough role as fresh-faced sci-fi soldier Carmen Ibanez in the sci-fi film Starship Troopers (1997, based on the Robert A. Heinlein book). With her ice-blue eyes and turned-up nose working in her favor, Richards shared a much-talked-about kiss with Neve Campbell in Wild Things (1998) and played Dr. Christmas Jones opposite Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough (1999). Her career seemed to stall after the turn of the century, but Richards stayed in the public eye thanks to her on-again, off-again relationship with actor Charlie Sheen, and a further public wrangle with her friend Heather Locklear after Richards began dating Locklear's estranged husband, Richie Sambora. The hassles helped Richards land her own reality show, Denise Richards: It's Complicated, in 2008. Her film roles include Undercover Brother (2002, with Dave Chappelle), a short bit in Love Actually (2003, starring Hugh Grant), Scary Movie 3 (2003, with Pamela Anderson), Edmond (2005, with William H. Macy), and Jolene (2008, based on a story by E.L. Doctorow).

Extra Credit

Richards and Sheen were married in 2002. Richards filed for divorce from Sheen in March of 2005; after a reconciliation later that year, they were divorced in 2006, and Richards also sought a restraining order against Sheen. Richards and Sheen have two daughters: Sam (b. 2004) and Lola Rose (b. 2005).
