April 12
Today's Weather Fact...
On this date in 1934, the highest wind speed ever recorded (231 miles per hour) blew across the weather observatory on Mt. Washington, N.H. While higher wind speeds have undoubtedly been achieved on earth, none has been reliably recorded. On December 16, 1997, reports of a 236-miles-per-hour winds came from Andersen Air Force Base, on Guam but after some investigation the claim could not be substantiated and the Mt. Washington wind still stands as the world record.
