The Answer:

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of 2009, there were 62,873 American Indians living in Montana; 68,976 in South Dakota; and 36,258 in North Dakota (5.2%).

The U.S. states with the largest American Indian populations are: California, 447,424; Arizona, 320,587; and Oklahoma, 296,182. As of 2009 there were 3,151,284 American Indians living in the United States.
