Carl Perkins

In 1955 country-rock artist Perkins recorded his song “Blue Suede Shoes,” which achieved gold record status in 1956 and was later recorded by Elvis Presley. He toured England with Chuck Berry in 1963 and in the mid-1960s teamed up with Johnny Cash for concerts and frequent appearances on Cash's TV show (1969–71). In 1978 he cut the album Ol' Blue Suede's Back, featuring new interpretations of his classic songs. He won a Grammy for his performance with Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Jerry Lee Lewis, on the album Class of '55 (1986).
