DBC Pierre was the winner of the Man Booker Prize for fiction in 2003 for his debut novel, Vernon God Little, which is set in the aftermath of a school massacre in Texas. Through Vernon God Little, Pierre portrays the greed in capitalist society and the manipulation of media and the justice system that determines one young boy’s fate. Born in Australia, Pierre grew up in Mexico and the UK and then settled in Ireland. He started out as a designer and cartoonist before focusing on writing.
