Bruce Metzger Biography

Scholar and translator who supervised the 1990 New Revised Standard Version of the Bible, which eliminated archaic and predominantly masculine language in favor of contemporary English, and the 1982 Reader's Digest Bible, which condensed the Bible to 60% of its original length. In addition, he was an editor of the United Bible Societies' Greek New Testament (1966), and the author of dozens of books on Biblical study.
