Long, John Luther
Long, John Luther, 1861–1927, American playwright, b. Hanover, Pa. In 1900, in collaboration with David Belasco, he dramatized his short story
Madame Butterfly(1897), which Puccini later made (1906) into an opera. Belasco and Long also collaborated successfully on The Darling of the Gods (1902) and Adrea (1905).
