Matovič, Igor

Matovič, Igor, 1973–, Slovakian political leader. A businessman before he entered politics, he founded a publishing house that acquired control of a number of regional newspapers and also invested in real estate. Matovič was first elected to parliament in 2010 as a member of the Freedom and Solidarity party. In 2011 he founded the center-right Ordinary People party, which campaigned on an anticorruption platform, and after the party won a plurality in 2020, he became prime minister of a four-party, center-right coalition government.
