Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah

Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, 1937–, emir of Kuwait (2020–). He was governor of the Hawalli region (1962–78), then served as interior minister (1978–88), defense minister (1988–91), minister of labor and social affairs (1991–92), and deputy chief of the Kuwait national guard (1994–2003). In 2003 he was once again named interior minister and also deputy prime minister. Chosen as crown prince in 2006, he became emir following the death of Emir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, his half brother.
