Fujimori, Keiko

Fujimori, Keiko (Keiko Sofía Fujimori Higuchi), 1975–, Peruvian political leader, daughter of President Alberto Fujimori. She attended Boston Univ. and Columbia Business School, then served in the Peruvian congress (2006–2011), and became the leader of the Popular Force party in 2010. In 2011 she ran for president of Peru, losing in a runoff to Ollanta Humala; in 2016 she similarly lost to Pedro Kuczynski. From 2018 to 2019 and in early 2020 she was jailed while awaiting trial on bribery charges arising from the Odebrecht corruption scandal. In the 2020 legislative elections her party suffered significant losses.
