Cioloş, Dacian Julien

Cioloş, Dacian Julien, 1969–, Romanian agricultural engineer and political leader, Ph.D. Univ. of Montpellier, 2006. He served as Romania's minister of agriculture and rural development (2007–8) and the European Union's commissioner for agriculture (2010–14). Following the resignation of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, President Klaus Iohannis appointed (2015) Cioloş, an independent, as prime minister of a technocratic government that remained in office until early 2017. Elected to the European Parliament in 2019, he became the leader of the centrist Renew Europe group.
