Irving

Irving, city (2020 pop. 256,684), Dallas co., N Tex., a suburb of Dallas; inc. as a city 1952. Building supplies, chemicals, electronic equipment, and airplane parts are manufactured in Irving. The city has grown rapidly along with the expanding business community of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area, profiting from the nearby oil, aerospace, electronic, engineering, and automobile industries. The prosperous business center, Las Colinas, which is headquarters to ExxonMobil, is also in the vicinity. The Univ. of Dallas is in Irving, and Dallas–Fort Worth Airport borders the city on the west.
