Pottstown

Pottstown, borough (1990 pop. 21,831), Montgomery co., SE Pa., on the Schuylkill River; settled c.1700, inc. 1815. The borough's industries include plastic and metal products, furniture, electronic and transportation equipment, chemicals, machinery, coaxial cable, processed foods, and universal joints. The state's first ironworks were established there in 1715. The Hill School, a preparatory school, is in Pottstown. Other points of interest are an antique automobile museum and the home of John Potts (1754), colonial ironmaster and the community's planner.
