Milford Haven

Milford Haven, Welsh Aberdaugleddau, town (1981 pop. 13,883), Pembrokeshire, SW Wales. It is a seaport on the northern side of the estuary called Milford Haven. The bay forms a natural harbor that can handle large oil and liquefied natural gas tankers, making the town a key oil and gas port and refining center. Other imports are cattle, food, and fertilizer. From early times the town was a point for trade with Ireland. Henry II invaded Ireland from Milford Haven in 1172; Henry Tudor (who became Henry VII) landed there from France in 1485.
