Thunberg, Greta

Thunberg, Greta, 2003–, Swedish climate activist. She came to public notice in 2018 when she encouraged students to skip school on Fridays to protest societal inaction on climate change. Through social media, her movement inspired protests throughout Europe and North America, winning her standing as a spokesperson for young people on climate change, and she addressed the United Nations Climate Action Summit in 2019.
