Kurt Russell

actor
Born: 3/17/1951
Birthplace: Springfield, Massachusetts

Though Russell started acting as a child and was signed up to a 10-year contract by Walt Disney himself, he planned to make professional baseball his career. When an injury forced Russell to return acting, he made a few hits like Escape From New York (1981) and Tequila Sunrise (1988). Russell met actress Goldie Hawn during filming for the box-office bomb Swing Shift (1984); fortunately the relationship was more successful, as the two have been together ever since. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in Silkwood (1983), and achieved both critical and popular success starring in Executive Decision (1996). His other films include John Carpenter's Escape from L.A. (1996), Breakdown (1997), Soldier (1998), 3000 Miles to Graceland (2001) and Vanilla Sky (2001).
