Anson Conger Goodyear

Having graduated from Yale in 1899, he began working in his family's lumber business, becoming president in 1911. His interests extended beyond his own firm to include railroads, serving as vice-president of the Buffalo and Susquehanna Railroad from 1907–10, and president of the New Orleans Great Northern Railroad Company from 1920–30. He also collected art, with a focus on late 19th- and early-20th-century American and European artists. He served as president of the Museum of Modern Art from 1929–39, and donated his own collection to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
