George John KINDEL, Congress, CO (1855-1930)

KINDEL, George John, a Representative from Colorado; born in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 2, 1855; attended the public schools and St. Augustine’s School in Cincinnati; apprenticed as an upholsterer and mattress maker in 1871; moved to Denver, Colo., in 1877 and engaged in the upholstery and mattress business and later in the bedding and furniture business; member of the board of supervisors of the city and county of Denver 1910-1914; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress (March 4, 1913-March 3, 1915); did not seek renomination in 1914, but was an unsuccessful Independent candidate for election to the United States Senate in 1914; resumed his former business pursuits; was in an automobile accident near Hillrose, Colo., which resulted in his death in Brush, Colo., on February 28, 1930; interment in Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Colo.
