LANDRY, Joseph Aristide, a Representative from Louisiana; born near Donaldsonville, Ascension Parish, La., July 10, 1817; attended school in Cape Girardeau, Mo.; member of the State house of representatives in 1840; elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress (March 4, 1851-March 3, 1853); president of police jury of Ascension Parish in 1861; before the Civil War was first sergeant in the Chasseurs de l’Ascension, and later attached to Company B of the Cannoneers of Donaldsonville; died near Donaldsonville, La., March 9, 1881; interment in Donaldsonville Catholic Cemetery.
