GALE, Levin, (son of George Gale), a Representative from Maryland; born in Elkton, Cecil County, Md., April 24, 1784; attended the common schools; studied law; was admitted to the bar and practiced in Elkton, Md.; member of the State senate in 1816; elected as a Jacksonian candidate to the Twentieth Congress (March 4, 1827-March 3, 1829); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1828; resumed the practice of law; died in Elkton, Md., December 18, 1834.
