McGARVEY, Robert Neill, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Philadelphia, Pa., August 14, 1888; attended the public and parochial schools and the University of Pennsylvania Business College; engaged as a telegrapher and as manager of a news bureau; became an investment broker in 1922; elected as a Republican to the Eightieth Congress (January 3, 1947-January 3, 1949); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1948 to the Eighty-first Congress; returned to the investment brokerage business; died in Philadelphia, Pa., June 28, 1952; interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Delaware County, Pa.
