HAYWARD, William, Jr., a Representative from Maryland; born at “Shipshead,” near Easton, Talbot County, Md., in 1787; attended Easton Academy and was graduated from Princeton College in 1808; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1809 and commenced practice in Easton; member of the State house of delegates 1818-1820; elected as a Crawford Republican to the Eighteenth Congress (March 4, 1823-March 3, 1825); continued the practice of law in Easton, Md., until his death there October 19, 1836; interment in the family burial ground on his estate, “Shipshead,” near Easton, Md.
