America’s Best Hospitals, 2010

The annual U.S. News & World Report list of the United States' best hospitals is prepared by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. Nearly 5,000 medical centers were analyzed to produce this year's list recognizing 14 hospitals, each of which excels in many specialties. Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. has topped the list for 20 years.

  8. Barnes–Jewish Hospital/Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.

  9. Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa.

  10. Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C.

  11. Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, Mass.

  12. University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, Wash.

  13. University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pa.

  14. University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers, Ann Arbor, Mich.
