A University of Maryland graduate, Chung started at WTTG-TV in Washington, DC, in 1969, where she was a copy person, news writer, and reporter. In 1971, Chung became a national correspondent at CBS News. After several jobs at other networks, Chung returned to CBS in 1989. She was co-anchor of the CBS Evening News from 1993 to 1995. A fellow at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1997, she later became co-anchor of 20/20, an ABC News production. She had her own talk show on CNN Connie Chung Tonight for less than a year. Chung and her husband, TV talk show host Maury Povich, have one son and live in New York City. They also hosted a show on MSNBC, Weekends with Maury and Connie from 2003–2006.
