Irish-born actor whose best known films include Miller's Crossing (1990), Little Women (1994), The Usual Suspects(1995), The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) and End of Days (1999). A latecomer to acting, Byrne was an archeologist, a schoolteacher, a short-order cook, and a bullfighter before taking to acting at age 29. He starred in the TV series Bracken (1979), for which he won the a Jacob's Award. He was married to actress Ellen Barkin from 1988 to 1993 and has two children.
