Raised on a farm in South Africa, Kathy Keeton Guccione studied ballet in London and subsequently became the alleged “best stripper in Europe.” At the age of twenty-four she met her husband Bob in London, where he managed the fledgling pornography magazine Penthouse. In 1969 the couple brought Penthouse to the United States, where Guccione served as vice-chair and chief operating officer of General Media Communications and vice-chair of its publishing arm, General Media International. In addition, she founded the magazines OMNI, in 1979, and Longevity, in 1989, and authored two books.
